Lower CTR? Fix It..

First let try to think as a visitor, when he enters our site that he found on the search engine or on any other website that link to your website. He clicked the link that lead to your website because he is thinking he will find something interesting information to read. He enters your website read what ever came for and in most cases if he found interesting things on your website he read other pages too, after that he tries to decide where to go next.

He have 3 options:

1. Go back to the site where he came from and find another link the can be interesting for him.
2. Click a exit link from you website that can be a link to another website or an AdSense ads
3. Close the browser and making him self a nice cup of coffee.

Let stop for a second and understand one well known fact:
People don’t like to click on advertisement !
I know the third option may sound funny but it’s an option and we have got to consider it.Out main goal when put AdSense ads is to get the visitor choose option number 2 and leave our website while clicking an exit link preferably on of AdSense ads. We know we don’t any control if the user choose options 1 or 3 that depends only on the user surfing behavior. Putting AdSense ads on our site is only the first step, making money with AdSense require some work for our side.

The Problem: Lower CTR on AdSense ads !

I know it does not cost them a thing but all website visitors like that the information that they get is unbiased, especially if they search for an advice of a solution for a problem that they have.

The solution:

After all this long explanation lets think what can we do in order to improve the chances that the visitor leave our website through an AdSense ad.

• Increase the number of AdSense units in our website - Google Allow us to put up 3 AdSense blocks, let’s use them all and choose the one that have more ads in every block.

• Decrease exit links from out website or put them in place where they are not so easy to be found. I know this one is a little bit of dirty but if you think about your website structure and analyze it correctly, you will find many thing you can improve in this field.

• Change our AdSense color in order them to blend in our website overall design. You may have sound this tip before but never thought it’s that important. On the next time you use AdSense, think about the face that People don’t like to click on advertisement .

Try it on your website it’s just a simple as you think. I’ll be happy to know if you have more way to improve the CTR Now lets do the math: If you website contains 20 exit links which can include resources, tags, informative links and anything that lead to another page.If you have only 4 AdSense links then the chances that your visitor click on an AdSense ads are 20% (4 / 20 ). If you have 3 AdSense units each contain 4 links you have 12 AdSense exit links then the chances that the visitor leave your website through an AdSense ads are very improved to 60%.
